You are warmly invited to a Tatreez Workshop, part of our exhibition program of events.
Tatreez, the traditional art of Palestinian embroidery, has long been a powerful expression of resilience and resistance in the face of occupation and the systematic erasure of Palestinian identity. Despite heavy policing and the confiscation of embroidered garments, Palestinian women persisted. Their refusal to conform to repressive rules gave rise to innovative forms of protest — where fashion met revolution. Tatreez became both a cultural expression and a political statement.
Come with passion and curiosity to learn the techniques of tatreez — all materials will be provided.
You’ll also explore the symbols and motifs behind each pattern, and how they reflect the geography, cultural identity, resilience, and resistance of different regions of Palestine.
We are pleased to welcome back Wafaa’ Abuzeinah Abusharekh and Omnia Salameh, who will be joining us via Zoom
